Ozeri Kandle Light for eReader Review and #Giveaway

I love reading especially with my Kindle.  My favorite time to read is at night after everyone has gone to bed.  I especially love to curl up in bed and read, but reading at that time of the night can be a little bothersome for my husband and actually difficult to get the right amount of light.  Even with Kindle and its non-glare screen, I do have difficulties getting a good view of what I am reading.  I was recently introduced to the Ozeri Kandle.  The Ozeri Kandle is a light made especially for eReaders.  I received the Kandle Flex Reading Light in Graphite from Ozeri.  When I got it and took it out of the box, I  thought this is probably the neatest little gadget I've seen in a long time.  The Kandle hooks easily over the top of your eReader.

This little guy has a fully flexible and adjustable neck that you can adjust to your preference.  It has 3 LED's that are lifetime and allows the light to be distributed evenly which is less strain on  your eyes.  I have really bad eyesight anyway, so any help I can get in this department, is much appreciated. The light has two setttings, one for soft bright and ultra bright.  The Kandle is perfect for night time reading, travelling at night, or anywhere its dark.

Mamavation Monday

I was skimming Pinterest the other day and found this little saying.  I found it so inspirational for me because I am always putting my cart before the horse, so to speak.  I always ponder on what the next day is going to be like especially if I have something in my life going on that needs a resolution. The words you never know what tomorrow will bring is so true.  Just when we think there is no light at the end of the tunnel, tomorrow can bring rays of  sunshine that we never expected. 

The last couple of weeks have been quite difficult for me, as  you are probably aware, I have been on medication that has side effects to them that have been less than pleasant. These side effects were more bothersome than anything.  It put me an impairment as far as getting my workouts in and getting done what I needed to do for my family.  As of this post, I have finished up one of the medications and have to continue on the other one until my doctor's appointment on Thursday.  I am optimistic that I will have a resolution to the medical issue that has been ongoing for the last few months.

In spite of the medication, I have been eating really good this week and have pushed myself to walk some throughout the week.  I believe that instead of eating the things that are wrong for me and putting the good stuff in, has helped contradict some of the medication side affects.   I am dedicated to remaining focused on eating the right things and getting back to working out on a regular schedule.  

My goals for this week are to continue healthy eating and my water intake, adding in more exercise, and having a positive attitude about what tomorrow may bring.  

SCALE VICTORY:  I lost one pound this week for a total weight loss of 9 pounds in the last two weeks.  

Congrats to Wendy and Hanan for graduating Mamavation Boot Camp.  They have done fantastic things so far and will continue to be an inspiration to us.  Welcome  Kelly (@dancingvalentin) and Pam (@Pamdemonium2) to Mamavation, we are glad that you have joined us and I look forward to getting to know you better.  And welcome back Jody (@rantsnrascals) and Lorri (@lorrieloveable). SodaStream #Review

These days, the cost  of soda is so expensive.  I have been staying away from buying it lately because the price has simply inflated and it seems that there aren't very many good deals on it at the stores.  I was recently introduced to a innovative product called SodaStream.  SodaStream prides themselves on being "a smarter way to enjoy soda." Here are some things that I have learned about the SodaStream from their website.

"How Does SodaStream Help the Environment?

SodaStream is an "Active Green" product, meaning that consumers  are actively reducing their CO2 footprint every time they make soda  or sparkling water at home instead of buying it from the store. The more the system is used on a daily basis, the more CO2 footprint the user actively saves. (This differs from "Passive Green" products, which use green-friendly production processes, but their products are not inherently helping the consumers save on their daily footprint.)

Because SodaStream uses water straight from the tap, the system makes traditional store-bought beverage bottles obsolete. That means less plastic manufactured, less plastic waste is created, and fewer bottled beverages must be transported from manufacturers to distributors to stores to homes.

Globally, 206 billion liters of bottled water were consumed in 2008 (Zenith International Global Bottled Water Report, 2008). The energy required to make water bottles in the US only, is equivalent to 17 million barrels of oil (Container Recycling Institute, 2002).

According to the US Recycling Institute, more than 80% of bottles in the US do not get recycled and end up in landfills. Also, an estimated 4.7 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions were produced in the process of replacing the 134 billion bottles and cans not recycled in 2005.

Using your own home carbonation system means:

Less packaging waste from cans and bottles.

Less pollution caused by transport of bottled beverages.

One SodaStream carbonator makes 60 or 110 liters, equivalent to 170 or 310 aluminum cans! When empty, the carbonator is refilled and reused, ready to make more fizzy and tasty soda whenever you want it."

The SodaStream makes it very economical and saves the environment.  One reusable bottle helps save 2000 bottles that go to the earth's atmosphere.  I love a company who works to help save the our environment.  It is the little changes from everyone that makes a difference. 

For my review, SodaStream sent me the Jet in Black, reusable carbonating bottle, reusable carbonator, and various bottles of soda flavors to sample.  

The SodaStream uses regular tap water, the carbonator, and the flavoring.  The first one we decided to try was the orange. I let my kids decide which one and it was a unanimous choice.  We filled our reusable bottle up to the mark with water, added our flavoring and gave it three pushes for the fizz to go into the reusable bottle. The good thing about SodaStream is that you can customize how you want your drinks to taste.  You control how much flavoring and fizz you put into the drink.  It is like having your own custom drink station, right in your own home.  The orange drink tasted very similar to the well known brand.  My kids love it!  We tried the Cola version of flavoring next.  My husband was the tester on this one because when I do drink cola it is usually the diet version.  He said that it was very good and tasted much like his old go to brand.  


The SodaStream has over 60 flavors including Country Time, Crystal Light, and MyWater Flavor Essence.  There is definitely no lack of variety with SodaStream. We have really been enjoying using our SodaStream and I love the flexibility of being able to have more than one flavor in the house, especially with kids.  SodaStream products can be purchased at retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, Bed, Bath and Beyond, and many others.  They also have an online store where you can purchase their products as well.  Be sure and connect with SodaStream on Facebook, Twitter, and their Ms. Fizz Blog.

Hyde Yoga Vira Tank #Review

Having comfortable workout clothing makes any workout more enjoyable.  And comfortable is at the top of my list.  I was recently given the opportunity to review a yoga tank from a company named Hyde Yoga. A little introduction about Hyde, from their founder, Anne-Kerr Kennedy.

For my review, I was sent the Vira Tank in Fig. The Vira Tank is 92% organic cotton and 8% spandex. The organic cotton makes this tank super soft and it moves with your body when you are working out.  I love the fact that this tank has a built in bra that stays in place, no riding up or movement.  The back is racer back style which I am thrilled about for ease of movement of my arms. One other excellent point about this tank is the length.  The length comes well over my hips so during my workout I was not tugging on it to pull it down so my stomach wasn't showing.

Spanx Bra-liminiate Minimizer Bra Review and #Giveaway

Over the past couple of years, I have been hearing a lot about Sara Blakely and her Spanx foundations.  I have seen her and the Spanx brand on a number of talk shows and in magazines and wanted to try one of the Spanx bras.  I am pretty sure that most of you have heard of Sara Blakely and Spanx.  I would like to introduce you to her and the company she created.  Here is a bit of information from her website.

Spanx has been gracious enough to allow me to try one of their Bra-linimate Minizier Bras.  I don't know about you but I am always in search of the perfect bra, so I jumped at the chance to review this bra that I have heard so much about.  

The Bra-liminate Minimizer  bra minimizes by 1" and smooths out around the back.  It comes in nude and black and variety of sizes.  This bra does exactly what the description says it does.  I chose the bra in nude and it looks great under t-shirts. The Bra-liminate Minimizer is non-padded and has underwire for superior support.

I think I have found the new love of my life.  Or potentially close to it.  I have had an opportunity to try out some really great goodies from a company called Baconery. Have you ever taken your bacon and dipped it in your pancake or waffle syrup?  I do it all the time and I love it. Salty meets sweet or sweet meets salty, however you prefer.  Now we're talking.  Before I go on with my review, let me introduce you to Baconery.  Here is a little information about them from their website:

This whole idea of sweet and salty fits my taste buds perfectly.  I am a chocolate lover to start with and bacon is right up there are the top of the list with chocolate.  For my review, I was sent this neat little box of goodies.  

Here is what was inside the box: Chocolate Bacon, Bacon Marshmallow Bar, Chocolate Bacon Pretzel Rods, Bacon Brownie, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Peanut Butter Bacon, and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Bacon Cookies.  My son wanted to try the Bacon Brownie, since he is the household brownie connoisseur.  He said it was "Yummy in my tummy, way good."  And he is right, it is out of this world.  It was very moist and flavorful. Of course, we had a family sampling of all of the goodies, and all four of us had a different favorite product.  I bet you can guess what my favorite is.  If you guessed the Chocolate Bacon, you guessed right. The bacon is thicked sliced bacon dipped in rich chocolate. Words cannot describe just how good this really is.  My daughter enjoyed the Bacon Marshmallow bar.  She cut into small pieces so that she could have a little everyday.  

The menu on Baconery's website has a complete listing of the products that they currently offer.  They also offer White Chocolate Bacon, White Chocolate Pretzel Rods, sample packs, and Pig Shaped Bacon Dog Biscuits for your pooch. Sleep Innovations Rejuvenation Queen Mattress Topper #Review and #Giveaway

Sleep Innovations generously allowed me the opportunity to review one  of their Rejuvenation Mattress Toppers in a Queen Size.  This particular mattress topper is constructed of two layers. The bottom layer is 1 1/2 inches of gel memory foam and other other layer is 1 1/2 inches of luratex custom wave foam. The mattress topper comes complete with a cover that has two separate pockets for inserting the two pieces in to the cover. These separate compartments allow you to customize the topper to your sleeping preference.  Put the gel memory foam on top for a soft feel  or put the luratex foam on the top for a more firm feel, the choice is yours.  I chose to put the luratex on the top for the more firm feeling.

I was right on the money when I did this.  I loved the luxurious feeling of this topper and felt like my body was surrounded by bubbles all night.  My body was cool during the night and usually I wake up in the middle of the night really warm and sometimes even sweating. This mattress topper allowed me to sleep thoroughly through the night without having that problem.  I loved the fact that I could actually customize the way that I want to sleep with this topper.  Most of the "other"  toppers only come as one layer.  Sleep Innovations definitely  had a well thought out plan when they designed this mattress topper.  The customization of the topper allows for your body's painful pressure points to be comfortable all night long.

Great Clips June Sexy Hair Campaign Review and #Giveway

I am super excited to be able to tell you that I am working with Great Clips to tell  you about their June Sexy Hair Campaign.  As some of you might know, I am always on the search for great hair products.  Over the years, I have tried many salon grade products and have had a difficult time finding one that suited my hair and what I want to accomplish with my hairstyle.  Great Clips has generously given me the opportunity to review some of the products from the Sexy Hair Line.

After I blowed dried, I could already see the difference in my hair. It was much fuller and not weighed down.  When I was ready to use the curling iron on my  hair, I used the Sexy Hair Powder Play that Great Clips had sent me.  

Powder Play is a volumizing and texturizing power that you use after you have dried your hair.  I applied it to the roots of my hair to give extra volume.  It instantly lifted the roots and gave that extra umph to my hair.  There was no odor or residue with the use of this powder.  It does come out white but goes on clear and you never know that you have even put it on, except for visually seeing the volume.  

For finishing off my style, Great Clips sent me a can of Sexy Hair's Spray & Play.  This hairspray is lightweight and adds volume to the hair.  It is not sticky when it goes on and dries very quickly.  I live in the south, so humidity is a huge issue for me and my  hair.  I like a product that I can depend on to keep my hairstyle in place throughout the heat of the day.  Spray & Play does exactly as the name says.
